Intex type pools are the least expensive to purchase, install & sometimes partially bury. Intex type pools are identified by soft sides without the traditional aboveground steel/aluminum wall. Basically, the liner is the wall. Thus, being very vulnerable to accidental puncture. Additionally, Intex packages include a very, very light duty ladders & filter system. To cover up the blue/grey/tan wall sometimes people will cover it up with bamboo screening.
Light duty, original equipment Intex filters, ladders, hoses, skimmers & returns can be replaced with upgraded more heavy duty aboveground pool equipment. 15′ round Intex style pools can often be purchased at Walmart for $400. However, they will often only last 1-3 years. Alternatively, a steel walled traditional aboveground pool typically lasts 7-15 years.
